Architect, designer and restauranteur Taavo Somer called me up to photograph his restaurant, Isa, soon after it was opened. From chatting with him, I learned that this was a project very close to his heart. He had worked on the designing and building of it for over two years and had virtually everything built from scratch, save for the vintage Paul McCobb chairs. I got happily lost in the details during my shoot -the ceilings, the custom made benches – all the small details just continued to reveal themselves as my time there went on. And even a couple of years after when I go back, I enjoy seeing the evolution of this space. It seems to just get cozier and the details better.
